Intelli404 is a Shopify app made by InterLinks Development (“we”, “us”). When a shopper lands on a missing page in a store that uses Intelli404, the app finds the next best page in that store and sends the shopper there. This policy explains what information the app handles to do that, for both the merchants who install it and the shoppers who visit their stores.

Who is responsible

For merchant account information, we decide how it is used. For information about shoppers, the merchant whose store they visit is responsible, and we process it only on that merchant’s behalf and only to provide the app. Shoppers with questions about a store’s practices should contact that store first.

Information we collect from merchants

  • Store details from Shopify: the store’s myshopify domain, Shopify store ID, primary domain and time zone.
  • The access tokens Shopify gives the app so it can work with your store.
  • Your Intelli404 settings, such as what happens when there’s no match and how the redirect screen looks.
  • The Shopify staff user ID of people who open the app, and the language each one chooses.
  • Results of the tests you run from the app’s Verify page.

To find matches, the app reads your store’s products, collections, pages and blog posts through Shopify. It does not read your customers or orders.

Information we collect about shoppers

Only when a shopper lands on a missing (404) page of a store that uses Intelli404, the app records:

  • The address of the missing page, with common tracking parameters removed.
  • The address of the page that linked to it (without its query string), and a general category such as search engine, social site or the store itself.
  • The browser’s user agent, the device type (phone, tablet or desktop) and the page language.
  • Which page the app picked, how confident it was, and how long the match took.

We don’t record shoppers’ names, email addresses, IP addresses, account details, carts or purchases, and we can’t link these records to a person. Visits from known bots aren’t recorded.

Intelli404 doesn’t set cookies. On the missing page only, it saves one setting in the browser’s session storage that remembers whether the store’s app connection is reachable. It is cleared when the browser tab closes.

How we use information

  • To send shoppers from broken links to the next best page.
  • To show merchants their 404 log, reports and match explanations, including through Shopify Sidekick when a merchant asks it about their 404s.
  • To keep the app working, secure and reliable, and to fix problems.

We don’t sell or rent information, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the services that run the app:

ServiceWhat it doesLocation
ShopifyRuns the store, installs the app, and carries storefront requests to the appGlobal
DigitalOceanHosts the app’s servers and databaseSan Francisco, USA

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public. If InterLinks Development is sold or merged, the app’s data would move to the new owner under this policy.

Where information is stored

Information is stored in the United States. If you are outside the United States, your information is transferred there. Where the law requires it, we rely on Shopify’s data processing terms and standard contractual clauses for these transfers.

How long we keep it

  • A missing-page record is deleted 90 days after its last visit, unless the merchant has acted on it (created a redirect, or marked it resolved or ignored). Records the merchant acted on are kept while the app is installed.
  • Daily totals (counts of visits and recovered visits, with no shopper details) are kept while the app is installed.
  • Merchants can delete their whole 404 log and reports at any time in the app’s Settings.
  • When a merchant uninstalls the app, Shopify asks us to delete that store’s data about 48 hours later, and we delete all of it.
  • Database backups are kept for 7 days, and server logs are rotated and deleted over time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR and California law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your information, and to object to or limit how it is used.

  • Merchants: email support@intelli404.com and we’ll respond within 30 days. You can also delete your data yourself in Settings, or by uninstalling the app.
  • Shoppers: contact the store you visited. When a store forwards a request through Shopify, we respond to it. Because we don’t store names, email addresses or other identifiers, we usually hold nothing that can be linked to a particular shopper.

You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Security

Connections to the app are encrypted. The database is reachable only from the app’s own server over a private network, and access to production systems is limited to the people who run the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect the information we hold and will notify affected merchants of a breach as the law requires.

Children

Intelli404 is a tool for businesses and isn’t directed at children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we’ll tell merchants in the app or by email before they take effect.
